Jagex threatening legal action on all 3rd party clients

No one knows if any of this is true. I'd hold any opinions until Jagex says something about it. There's no way they'd shut OSB down, literally half of the playerbase uses it.

That becomes a whole other issue then. Konduit and some others never charged and Jagex didn't care. Now they care because of another free one? And they don't shut down OSB? It's basically a big fuck you to the players. Jagex profit off of OSB. If they're going to charge $11 a month we should have a proper game client that we don't have to pay extra for

Like he said, all those clients threaten the integrity of the game.

Although I like the open source idea for a client and fuck paying for any client. Also I still pay membership rates from like 2009 so yea.

Don't see Blizzard taking down custom UI's for having an advantage over the default UI lmao.

My point is that we don't know the whole story. So far all we have is one of RuneLite's staff posting that he was contacted by MMK, but hasn't proven it by showing any logs of said conversation. I personally find it hard to believe that a company would allow one of their employees to contact a person/and or group of persons who may or may not be infringing their IP. I'm not exactly an expert in law, but I know enough to say that's not ethical. Surely Jagex has a legal team or a firm on hand that handles their legal affairs, which in this case, would send a cease & desist to RuneLite (and all other 3P client owners) if this were a real crackdown. Granted, knowing Jagex, it isn't exactly too hard to believe it being legit, but as of right now, all we have is the comments of one person. I do enjoy the memes on Reddit about it, but I don't think there's any real reason people should be worried atm.

I agree with @IMK overall. However, it is Jagex. If they send MMK to do their legal bidding I wouldn't exactly be shook

That said, I doubt it. Runelite means OSB and Konduit, OSB and Konduit mean over half the player base is pissed - a base with voting power that has zero problem shitting on jagex for the slightest of missteps.

Not that it isn't possible - it is. But freak out when there is a statement imo
